Tuition And Registration

Tuition is $130 per month, which reserves a recurring 30-minute time slot for your lessons. This fee is fixed and does not change based on the number of lessons you attend. Holiday closures are not refundable and do not qualify for make-up credits. See the “Student Absence and Make-Up Credits” section for more information on how to earn and use make-up credits.

The Music Room offers open enrollment so that you may register for classes at any time. If you start lessons mid-month, your invoice will be adjusted to reflect the remaining lessons in that month, excluding any lessons that you were not present for. The initial payment is due on the first formal lesson day, and subsequent full payments are due on the 1st of each month, auto-drafted from the credit card details provided at registration. A one-time $25 registration fee applies per student.

For invoice queries, please contact us before the due date. Credit card details can be updated via the My Music Staff Portal. Access the portal HERE.

Tuition and registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Withdrawal & Dismissal

There is no long-term contract. To discontinue lessons, please notify the front desk in writing one full month (30 days) prior to the first of the month. Notice given to the instructor only (verbally or otherwise) and non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal from lessons.  For example, if you plan to discontinue/suspend lessons in May, then we will need to receive your written notice by the first lesson in April. If no notice is given by the first lesson of the month before lessons are being discontinued/suspended, the student/parent will be responsible for the next full month's tuition.

The Music Room reserves the right to dismiss any student due to frequent absences, disciplinary problems, overdue tuition payments and/or parental noncompliance with The Music Room policies.

Again, tuition and registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Forms of Payment

The Music Room requires monthly tuition to be submitted via auto-pay with the credit card information that you provide at registration, which is automatically processed by our billing software on the 1st of every month. You may check your invoices and update card information by logging into your My Music Staff portal account, the information for which will be sent to you after submitting the registration form.

Declined Payments & Delinquent Accounts

If your card is declined, please update your information in the MMS portal and notify us by your first lesson of the month. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of your reserved lesson spot. The Music Room retains the right to suspend or discontinue instruction for any student delinquent in fulfilling their financial obligations at any time.

Student Absence and Make-Up Lessons

Students are allowed to accumulate up to 12 make-up lesson credits per year. To be eligible for a make-up lesson, you must cancel your lesson in the My Music Staff Portal at least 8 hours before your scheduled lesson. The My Music Staff Portal will then automatically give you a make-up credit to use during any of your instructor's available make-up blocks within the next 180 days. Please be aware that make-up credits expire after 180 days of issuance. Make-up credits are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Every month, each instructor will have designated evening make-up lesson blocks from which their students can choose and book a make-up spot. The make-up blocks can be viewed and booked through the calendar in the My Music Staff Portal. We suggest that only two lessons be made up per month, and the remaining will be rolled over to the next month for booking at your convenience. Again, make-up credits roll over month-to-month and expire after 180 days of issuance.

**The make-up process for instructors Joanna Skinner and Mark Lucas are different than that mentioned above. For more information, talk with your instructor or message staff.themusicroomleeds@gmail.com.**

Instructor Absences

If an instructor is absent, the studio may arrange a qualified substitute or schedule a timely make-up lesson for the missed classes. If your instructor is not able to provide a make-up lesson or find a substitute, your next month's tuition will be adjusted to account for your instructor's absence. Additionally, The Music Room retains the right to replace a student's current instructor with a new, qualified instructor at any time.

Prolonged Student Absences

For an extended absence of a full month or more, students can opt to reserve their lesson time with their instructor. If approved by The Music Room, the reservation will be for one month at half the regular tuition rate. For example, if the monthly tuition is $130 and the student will be absent for a full billing cycle, they will be billed $65 to secure their lesson time.
We implement this reservation fee to ensure our instructors' income is protected. We cannot ask them to hold a spot without the opportunity to earn income during that time.

Drop-Off & Child Safety

For the safety of all children, unattended waiting in the reception area is not permitted. We appreciate quiet waiting to avoid disrupting ongoing lessons. Please ensure that students are not dropped off more than 10 minutes before lesson time and are promptly picked up. Our staff cannot supervise children in the reception area, and disruptive or unruly behavior disturbs our students and prevents learning.

If someone other than the usual escort is picking up or dropping off a student, advance notice must be provided by the student's parent or legal guardian. For safety reasons, we do not allow students to leave with individuals who don't typically accompany them to and from lessons.

Tardy Arrival

Late arrivals will not result in an extension of lesson time. If a student arrives more than half of their lesson period late (15 minutes), they will be deemed absent, and the instructor will conclude the session. It is the responsibility of the student or their guardian to notify about late arrivals or missed lessons. Instructors and staff are not obligated to contact the student or guardian to remind or confirm attendance.

Student Illness

Students are advised not to attend lessons when unwell, displaying symptoms such as fever, nausea, or vomiting. The Music Room reserves the right to dismiss a student from a scheduled lesson if they arrive exhibiting signs of illness. In such instances, makeup lessons cannot be offered.

Inclement Weather

If the studio is closed due to inclement weather, students will be invited for make-up lessons which could include individual, online, or group lessons.

Holiday Closures

The Music Room holiday/break closures have already been calculated as part of the monthly lesson fees.  No makeup lessons are given for holiday closures.  You will be notified in advance of any exceptions.
